About Us

My name’s Hank Treadwell and I’m a car guy through and through. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been fascinated by all things automotive. Maybe it was all those hours spent watching my dad tinker away under the hood of our old Chevy pickup. Or those lazy summer afternoons hanging out at my uncle’s garage, amazed at how he could bring an engine roaring back to life. Regardless of where it started, my love of cars runs deep.

I grew up in the great city of Austin, which, in my biased opinion, is the perfect place for an aspiring gearhead. With our warm climate and endless backroads, I spent my teenage years tearing up the asphalt and testing the limits of every beater I could get my hands on. Don’t worry, I drove safe‚Ķmostly. Those early adventures instilled in me a mechanical intuition that I still rely on today.

After high school, I knew I wanted to turn my passion into a career. So I enrolled in an automotive technical program where I honed my skills as a master technician. It was there that I developed my expertise in everything from routine maintenance to complex transmission overhauls. I graduated top of my class and immediately started working at a local repair shop.

Over the next 15 years, I built up an impressive roster of loyal customers. My approach has always been to treat every car with care and find solutions, not just quick fixes. Word of my talents got around, and before I knew it, I was one of the most sought-after mechanics in Austin. But as much as I loved getting my hands dirty, I needed a new challenge.

So that’s when I decided to start my blog, Tire Care 101. Here, I combine my technical knowledge with my creative spirit, but with a special focus on tires. I write in-depth guides on topics like tire pressure, rotation, and alignment. I also test out the latest tire models and brands to provide recommendations. My goal is to help drivers understand how to properly care for their tires for safety, performance, and longevity.

These days, in addition to writing my blog, you can still find me getting elbow-deep in engine grease at my shop. I’ll always be that kid enamored with the smell of gasoline and the rumble of a V8. But now I get to share my passion with car lovers worldwide. From my early adventures testing limits on the backstreets of Austin to diagnosing complex issues for customers today, cars move me. Literally and figuratively. That’s my story in a nutshell. Or should I say, pistonshell.
